Lynx Set New Mark For Consecutive Home Wins

Augusta Lynx News Release
Augusta rebounded from a Friday road loss to South Carolina by defeating Greenville Saturday and Texas Sunday at home to run their consecutive home winning streak to a team-record eight games.
The week started with the Lynx in Charleston to take on the South Carolina Stingrays. Unfortunately for Augusta, they would fall behind 2-0 in the first period on goals by Nate Kiser and Matt W. Reid and never recover. Marty Clapton's power play goal made it 3-0 at 9:04 of the third period before Louis Goulet's late man advantage marker for the Lynx managed a 3-1 final. Jason Saal took the loss with 30 saves.
Saturday night the Lynx returned home and jumped back in the win column 4-2 over Greenville. Sean Connolly and Ken Magowan started things off with a pair of power play goals, followed by Brian Passmore's eventual game winner at 11:42 of the second period. Greenville scored twice in the latter part of the middle frame for a 3-2 deficit at the intermission, but Dan Sullivan's power play goal in the third period provided the insurance for Augusta. Matus Kostur turned aside 34 Grrrowl shots to earn the win for the Lynx, as Augusta's top-rated home power play unit went 3-for-6 on the night.
Sunday afternoon the Lynx welcomed the Texas Wildcatters to town for the first time in team history. Augusta grabbed a 1-0 lead on Matt Dzieduszycki's first goal of the night at 6:23 of the opening frame. Matus Kostur fed the puck quickly up the wing to Jamie Johnson while Texas was in a line change, and Johnson found Dzieduszycki for the goal. Eric Sonnenberg would eventually even the game at 1-1 in the third period, but the Lynx followed with a shorthanded marker from Dzieduszycki, and a late goal from Eric Johansson for the 3-1 win. Kostur not only picked up an assist but the win with 35 saves, and the Lynx set a new franchise mark for consecutive home wins with their eighth straight victory.
