Charlotte Checkers News Release

Biloxi Miss. - The Charlotte Checkers couldn't muster a shot that would beat Mississippi goalie, Ryan Munce and would lose by a score of 1-0.

The Sea Wolves weren't able to find the back of the net the previous night but, they wouldn't take long to strike against Charlotte netminder, Chris Holt in the second game of the series. Sea Wolves forward, Ryan Menei scored on a rebound opportunity at 8:34 after Holt made several saves in a row but just couldn't hold onto the puck. By the end of the first period, Mississippi held a 1-0 advantage.

There was no scoring in the middle frame but tempers from both teams boiled over as Jared Nightingale battled with Chase Trull and Mark Lee fought Stanislav Lascek.

The third period brought plenty of opportunities for the Checkers to tie the contest however; they couldn't find a way to beat Munce. Charlotte sported a late power play in the final minutes of the contest. They pulled Holt for a 6-on-4 advantage but came up short. The Sea Wolves would win the game by a score of 1-0.

The Checkers are in their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Their next home game takes place on March 4 against the Gwinnett Gladiators. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date. The Checkers are in their third season of play at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Season tickets are on sale now with full-season packages starting at just $175.
