Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the "AA" affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers have announced today that Kyle Rank has been reassigned to Wheeling from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Rank, 25, began the season with the Nailers and recorded 12 points (5g, 7a) in 22 games before being recalled to the American Hockey League on December 11, 2007. He appeared in 24 games with the Baby Penguins and registered one assist.
The graduate of St. Lawrence University was signed by Wilkes-Barre/Scranton as a free agent on June 11, 2007.
In a separate move, the Nailers have signed Peter Vetri as an emergency backup goaltender. The 22-year-old rookie made his professional debut earlier in the month with the Twin City Cyclones of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). He played two seasons (2004-06) at UMass-Lowell and was named the 2004-05 Hockey East Rookie of the Year.
Both Rank and Vetri will be available for tonight's game as the Nailers host the Johnstown Chiefs. The game begins at 7:35pm on Toga Party Night at WesBanco Arena. Any fan that wears a toga will get into the game for FREE! The best dressed toga will receive a $100 gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings in St. Clairsville, OH.
The fun-filled weekend continues on Saturday with the Trenton Devils in town to begin a two-game series. It's Beach Party Night and the Nailers' Summer Ticket Extravaganza. Any fan who wears beach attire to the game will get in for $2 off the ticket price plus be entered to win a trip for two to Myrtle Beach, SC courtesy of Clear Channel Radio. All fans in attendance will have a chance to win great tickets to events like Jamboree in the Hills, Pittsburgh Pirates games and many more.
