
Checkers Roster Continues To Develop

Charlotte, N.C. - The New York Rangers of the National Hockey League have reassigned forward, Bruce Graham to the Charlotte Checkers from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. Also, head coach and general manager of the Charlotte Checkers announced today that he has traded forward, Ryan Gibbons to the Bakersfield Condors in exchange for future considerations and Checkers defenseman Kenny Smith has been called up to the Springfield Falcons (AHL).
Graham, 6-foot-6, 235 pounds, has played 23 games for the Wolf Pack this season scoring one goal and five assists for six points. The second round draft pick of the Rangers in 2004 has dressed in 25 games for the Checkers this year. During that time he has accumulated nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points. Graham is set to return to the Checkers lineup as they battle the Sea Wolves tonight in Mississippi.
Gibbons, 6-foot-5, 212 pounds, dressed in 16 games for the Checkers this season scoring one goal, two assists for three points. The Phoenix Coyotes sixth round draft pick in 2003 was dealt to the Bakersfield Condors in exchange for future considerations.
Kenny Smith, 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, has played in 47 games for the Checkers this season scoring three goals, and five assists for eight points. Earlier this season, the Harvard University graduate was called up to the Providence Bruins (AHL) where he played in eight games but didn't register a point.
The Checkers are in their 15th season of play as a member of the ECHL. Their next home game takes place on March 4 against the Gwinnett Gladiators. In the team's 14-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 10 times including three consecutive playoff appearances to date.
