Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
Omaha second baseman Jimmy Govern and shortstop Taylor Featherston combined for five hits, including back-to-back home runs, and drove in four runs, while five Storm Chasers pitches combined for a four-hit shutout in a 6-0 victory in their 2019 season finale on Monday afternoon at Werner Park.
Omaha LF Rudy Martin mashed a solo big fly to lead off the order in the last of the first, with RF Erick Mejia adding an RBI double to grab an early 2-0 advantage. After adding a single tally in the third, Featherston and Govern hit back-to-back jacks to extend the margin to six.
Govern (3-4, R, HR, RBI) recorded a game-high three hits, with Featherston (2-4, R, HR, 3 RBI) and CF Jecksson Flores (2-3, R, 2 BB) adding multi-hit efforts. Govern's roundtripper was his second in as many games for Omaha, and in six games with the Storm Chasers hit .333 (7-21) with three runs, one double, two homers and five RBI.
Omaha starter Ofreidy Gomez (5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 3 BB, K) fired the first four frames of the shutout win, with relievers Jonathan Dziedzic (2.0 IP, H), Richard Lovelady (1.0 IP, K), Yunior Marte (1.0 IP, H, 2 K) and Andres Machado (1.0 IP) combining to yield two hits over the final five innings.
