Broncos Deal Zawatsky to Warriors for Smithies, Picks

The Swift Current Broncos and Moose Jaw Warriors swung a deal in the final moments of the 2019 WHL Trade Deadline, sending forward Alec Zawatsky to the Warriors in exchange for forward Tyler Smithies, a fourth-round pick in the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft and a fifth-round selection in the 20201 WHL Bantam Draft.

A product of Yorkton, SK, Zawatsky joined the Broncos in time for the beginning of the 2018-19 regular season and suited up in 39 games in which the 19-year-old recorded 26 points (13g-13a), including five power play markers.

Coming back to Swift Current, the 2000-born forward Tyler Smithies skated in 19 regular season contests for the Warriors, collecting three points (2g-1a). The Beaumont, AB product has also suited up for the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL, notching three points (2g-1a) in five games.

Swift Current hits the ice on Saturday, January 12th when they welcome the U.S. Division's Seattle Thunderbirds to the Innovation Credit Union I-Plex for Swift Current 57's night. Puck drop is set for 7:00pm CT.
