Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
The Wheat Kings and Recycle Everywhere team up to celebrate Manitoba students and their commitment to beverage container recycling
Brandon, MB. - The Canadian Beverage Container Recycling Association (CBCRA)'s Recycle Everywhere program and the Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings are giving students an opportunity to score big by showcasing their skills at empty beverage container recycling with the Wheat Kings Recycle Rally Contest.
Running from Saturday, January 12th to February 27th, the contest will give western Manitoba students an opportunity to win tickets to an upcoming Brandon Wheat Kings game; an in-classroom pizza party and an autographed team jersey, simply by submitting their 15-second video demonstrating their commitment to a cleaner environment by showcasing their skills at empty beverage container recycling.
"We are very excited to partner with the Brandon Wheat Kings on this fun and engaging contest! Teaching the importance of beverage container recycling to kids in school helps build a foundation to a greener and cleaner Manitoba for generations to come. ", says Christa Rust, Program Manager, Recycle Everywhere. "The Wheat King Recycle Rally Contest brings classrooms together to collaborate as a team to teach Manitobans why beverage containers should be given a life beyond the landfill."
"Recycling is the easiest and most effective thing that anyone can do to protect our natural resources," says Wheat Kings' Director of Business Operations Rick Dillabough. "By engaging young people in a contest such as this, we hope to motivate them toward adopting sustainable behaviors."
The 15-second video can be educational and informative; funny and laidback or telling a short relatable story, though must follow contest guidelines. The video can be created on a smart phone in a format that is acceptable to Facebook.
