Chiefs Trim to Seven Defensemen as Ladyman Reassigned

January 10, 2019 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs announced on Thursday that defenseman Mike Ladyman has been reassigned and is expected to report to the Winnipeg Blues of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL).

"This is a situation very similar to Luke Gallagher's reassignment earlier this week," said Chiefs general manager Scott Carter. "With Matt Leduc's return to the lineup last night after a lengthy injury we felt that making sure Mike was going to get plenty of ice time was important.

"We expect to bring him back as an Affiliated Player when the MJHL season ends and wish him the best in Winnipeg."

Ladyman will remain on the Chiefs' 50-man protected list and be eligible to return to the Chiefs as an Affiliated Player following the conclusion of the Blues' season. In 22 WHL games this season, he recorded two assists.

The roster move, along with Thursday's announced signing of forward Kaden Hanas, puts the Chiefs at 23 players, including 14 forwards, seven defensemen and two goalies.
