Toledo Walleye News Release
(Toledo, Ohio) The Toledo Storm (17-17-1) snapped a four game losing streak
as Mike Brodeur (W, SO, 25 saves) turned aside 25 shots and shutouts the
Cincinnati Cyclones (21-14-3) in front of 3,641at Toledo Sports Arena on
Friday night. The box score from tonight's game can be accessed by clicking

The Storm jumped out early, as Ken Magowan stole a puck during a Toledo
penalty kill and fed Jeff Attard who went in uncontested on Cyclones
netminder Cedrick Desjardins (L, 24 saves) and stashed a shorthanded goal at
5:03. Special teams paid off for Toledo once again, just three minutes
later, when newcomer Evan McGrath wristed a shot past Desjardins to make it
2-0 Storm through the opening frame. During the four-game skid, the Storm were unable to hold their slim leads,
but on Friday, that was certainly not the case. With a 2-0 lead to start
the second, the Storm added another when Matt Zultek skated into the right
circle of the Cincinnati zone and snapped a shot past Desjardins at 0:27 of
the frame to give Toledo the commanding 3-0 lead heading into the third
period. Unlike the previous 4 games, Toledo played extremely tight defense
throughout the game, holding the Cyclones to just 25 shots, all of which
were turned aside by Storm goaltender Mike Brodeur. The Storm added another
goal before all was said and done, as Chris Blight stole a puck at the
Cincinnati blue line and backhanded a shot threw the legs of Desjardins at
17:45 to make it 4-0 Toledo. The Shutout is the first since October 20th, when Logan Koopmans made 33
saves in a 2-0 win over Dayton. The Storm will host two more games this weekend at Toledo Sports Arena.
Tomorrow night the Storm welcome the Dayton Bombers to One Main Street for a
7:35pm opening face-off. Then, on Sunday, the Johnstown Chiefs will invade
the Sports Arena for an afternoon affair beginning at 3:05pm. Following
the Sunday game, there will be another post-game skate and autograph session
where fans can meet and greet their favorite Storm players ON THE ICE!
Great tickets for both games are still available by calling 419-691-0200 or
