Trenton Devils News Release
READING, PA (January 19, 2007) - The Trenton Titans could not find the net despite eight power play opportunities nor could they send any of their 36 shots past Reading Royals goaltender Jeff Pietrasiak in a 3-0 loss at the Sovereign Center on Friday evening.
The Royals picked up the only goal they need skating on a 5-on-3 power play late in the first period. Reading worked the puck around the zone before John Snowden tipped Jason Becker's point shot past Titans' goalie Joel Martin with 2:37 left until the intermission.
Kevin Saurette furthered Reading's cushion to two taking a perfect feed on top of the crease from Malcolm MacMillan and knocking it inside the near post 1:58 into the second period. Despite six man-advnatages in the middle frame, Trenton could not get on the board.
The Titans started to surge in final period outshooting the Royals 17-6, but they could not beat Pietrasiak as MacMillan finished off the scoring with an empty-net tally.
It was the first regulation loss for the Titans in six games as Martin - 24-of-26 saves - had his three-game winning streak come to an end.
The Trenton Titans are back on their home ice on Saturday, January 20 as they clash with the Wheeling Nailers at 7:30pm. Tune into 91.3FM-WTSR to listen to the live Titans' action or go to www.trentontitans.com to listen or watch live courtesy of b2 Networks.
