September 1, 2015 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
The Toronto Blue Jays recalled LHP AARON LOUP, RHP RYAN TEPERA, INF MUNENORI KAWASAKI and OF DALTON POMPEY from the Bisons and selected the contract of LHP JEFF FRANCIS with the expanded Major League rosters today.
To make room on their 40-man roster, the Blue Jays have also designated Bisons LHP COLT HYNES for assignment.
Francis was 6-3 with a 2.35 ERA in 19 games and 14 starts for the Bisons. He gave the Bisons nine quality starts and tossed shutout baseball in six of his 14 outings. The veteran southpaw allowed more than three runs in a start only twice all season and struck out 79 batters to only 13 walks in 92.0 innings of work. He struck out a Bisons' season-high 10 on July 2 against Syracuse and allowed just one run on two hits in eight innings in his last outing, August 29 vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Loup was optioned by the Blue Jays on August 16, making his Triple-A debut with five appearances out of the Bisons bullpen. The southpaw posted a 4.50 ERA in six innings of work with five strikeouts and four walks allowed.
Tepera is 3-1 with a 1.06 ERA and three saves in 21 appearances for the Bisons this season. The righty has held opponents to a .136 average and only two extra-base hits in 116 at-bats (.167 slugging pct.). Tepera has pitched shutout baseball in each of his last seven appearances, dating back to August 11 (10.0 IP, 5 H, 11 SO). Tepera has already been promoted to the Blue Jays twice this season.
Pompey has played 65 games over two stints with the Bisons. The outfielder has averaged .285 (72-253) with seven doubles, a team-high four triples, one home run and 18 RBI. He also leads the Bisons with 16 stolen bases in 23 attempts. Since the Triple-A All-Star break, Pompey has had the 7th best average (.324) in the International League.
Kawasaki is being promoted to the Blue Jays for a fifth time this season. In 62 games with the Bisons, the fan-favorite has averaged .245 (48-196) with eight doubles, eight RBI and eight stolen bases.
Hynes was 0-2 with a 3.16 ERA in 35 relief appearances with the Bisons. He struck out 24 and allowed 31 hits in 31.1 innings of work.
