Syracuse Mets News Release
Buffalo, NY (September 1, 2015) - The Syracuse Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bisons, 7-1, Friday night at Coca-Cola Field. The Chiefs hit three home runs off Bisons starter Todd Redmond to win their third straight game over Buffalo. Matt Skole homered twice and drove in four in the win.
Syracuse (62-76) got on the board in the second inning. Jason Martinson singled to start the inning against Buffalo starter Todd Redmond. Skole followed with the first of his two home runs in the game, a blast to right-center field feet, to give the Chiefs a 2-0 lead.
The game stayed 2-0 until the seventh. Skole led off the inning with a fly ball atop the roof of the right-field patio for a solo homer, giving the Chiefs a three-run lead. Kevin Keyes hit Redmond's next pitch well beyond the wall in left-center field for a 4-0 advantage. Caleb Ramsey followed with a triple to left-center field, still with no one out in the inning. Two batters later, Steve Lerud drilled the fourth extra-base hit of the inning, a double to right field, to score Ramsey and give Syracuse a 5-0 lead.
Syracuse added two more runs in the eighth. Tyler Moore and Martinson each singled to open the inning. Skole followed with an RBI groundout, his fourth RBI of the game, to give the Chiefs a 6-0 lead. Keyes then singled to drive in his second run of the game and cap the Syracuse scoring at 7-0.
Buffalo (68-71) got on the board in the ninth against Bryan Harper. George Kottaras walked and moved to second on a wild pitch. He moved to third when Jon Berti reached on an error by Scott Sizemore at second base. Kottaras scored on Caleb Gindl's groundout to make the score 7-1.
The Chiefs and Bisons play the final of 21 meetings between the teams Wednesday night in Buffalo. Paolo Espino is scheduled to start for Syracuse opposite Donn Roach for Buffalo. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
