
Bats Late Fight Not Enough in 7-5 Loss

Toledo, OH- The Louisville Bats (63-74) had their second straight loss to the Toledo Mud Hens (57-81) at Fifth Third Field Tuesday, 7-5, resulting in their fifth straight loss overall.
The Mud Hens started off with a five-run second inning. Manny Pina started the inning with a double and later scored when Mike Hessman doubled. Dean Green followed with another double to score Hessman. The fourth double of the inning from Daniel Fields added on two more. An RBI single from Dixon Machado gave the Mud Hens their fifth run.
Righty Robert Stephenson (L, 4-3, 4.04) started on the mound for the Bats. He went three innings, gave up eight hits, allowed six earned runs, walked two, and struck out four.
On the mound for the Mud Hens was righty Tim Melville (W, 7-9, 4.66). He went went six innings, gave up three hits, walked one, and struck out five.
The Mud Hens tacked on another run in the third when Mike Hessman hit a sacrifice fly. In the seventh, Chris Dominguez doubled to score Sean Buckley for the Bats first run. Kyle Waldrop followed with another double to score two more and made the score, 6-3.
In the eighth, Chris Buckley tripled to score Hernan Iribarren and then Buckley later scored to put the Bats in reach by one. An RBI single by Jefry Marte in the bottom of the eighth gave the Mud Hens an insurance run to secure the win.
The Bats face the Mud Hens for game three in Toledo at 6:30 pm Wednesday. A lefty battle on the mound is brought by Bats David Holmberg (7-6, 4.40) and Mud Hens Kyle Ryan (4-9, 4.19).
