Florida Everblades News Release
Estero, FL - Florida Everblades goaltender Tyler MacKay has been named the Sun National Bank ECHL Saver of the Month for March, the league announced today. The monthly award for goalies is the first captured by an Everblade net-minder this season.
MacKay finished March with a 9-1-0 record and a goals against average of 1.60, while posting a save percentage of .931. The 25-year-old began the month winning his first six starts and finished off the month by winning his last three.
MacKay began March winning three straight games over Louisiana, then followed with victories over Mississippi, Victoria and Greenville. The 2-0 win over Greenville was MacKay's second shutout of the season, and that win clinched a spot for the Everblades in the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
In all, MacKay allowed two goals or less in nine of his ten starts during the month. Since beginning the season 0-4-0 as a member of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies, MacKay has posted a record of 17-3-2, with a 2.00 GAA, and .924 save percentage in 22 games as a member of the Everblades. Prior to the 2004-05 season, the native of Deschambault Lake, Saskatchewan spent the previous three years in the ECHL with the Wheeling Nailers. Overall, MacKay is 65-45-5 in his professional career.
