
Checker shines as playoffs approach

CHARLOTTE, NC â Charlotte Checkers forward Bogdan Rudenko has been named Runner-Up In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for March 28 â April 3.
Rudenko, who appeared in two games for the Checkers last week, compiled 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 points. In the Checkers 4-1 victory over the Greenville Grrrowl on Friday, April 1, Rudenko recorded two goals and an assist. Two of his three points came on power plays and he registered the game winner. The following night, Rudenko had a valiant outing in the Checkers 6-4 loss to Gwinnett. He notched a goal and a power play assist in the effort.
The 6-0, 200 lb. Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan native played for the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers in the 2003-04 season. While there, he compiled 17 goals and 26 assists for 43 points in 41 games. With the Checkers this season, Rudenko has tallied 7 goals and 7 assists for 14 points in 17 games.
The Checkers play what could potentially be their final games at Cricket Arena this Friday and Saturday night. On Friday, the Checkers face off against the Greenville Grrrowl at 7 PM.
On Saturday at 7 PM the Checkers battle the South Carolina Stingrays. All fans in attendance on Saturday will receive a subscription to the Sporting News.
