Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons start a seven-game roadtrip with the first game of a four-game set against the Durham Bulls at Durham Bulls Athletic Park (7:05 p.m.). Buffalo will also stop in Norfolk before heading back north. The Herd is an even 8-8 on the road this season.
Last Game (BUF 4, SYR 2)
A two-out, two-run double by OF Dalton Pompey in the fourth inning was enough in Buffalo's 4-2 win over Syracuse on Sunday. RHP Roberto Hernandez retired the first 10 batters he faced and struck out six over 5.2 innings for his first win with the Bisons since August 29, 2006 against Ottawa. Buffalo pitchers struck out 12 and walked none.
vs. Durham (0-0)
The Bisons and Bulls will meet six times this season with Durham visiting Coca-Cola Field, June 13-15. Durham Bulls Athletic Park has not been kind to the Herd. Buffalo is just 5-22 (.185) in Durham since 2009 with the Bulls earning series sweeps in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015.
Arnold Leon
RHP Arnold Leon makes his second start of the season tonight. The righty joined the Herd's rotation last Wednesday and allowed two runs over three innings. The start was only Leon's 70th in 200 career appearances. The righty opened the season with the Blue Jays and posted a 7.71 ERA in two relief outings with Toronto.
David Adams
INF David Adams' 10-game hit streak is the 4th-longest active streak in the International League. Not only has the veteran hit .480 (12-25) during the stretch since April 24, but he has also walked seven times for an incredible .594 on-base pct. Adams' .408 season on-base pct. is 10 plate appearances shy of qualifying as the 5th-best mark in the I.L.
Balls and Strikes
Bisons batters have struck out the 2nd-fewest times in the IL this season, with only 188 strikeouts in 990 at-bats. Meanwhile, Herd pitchers have only issued 90 walks on the year, the 5th-fewest in the league. Buffalo hurlers have only issued three walks over the last three games.
Matt Dominguez
INF Matt Dominguez has hit in 11 of his last 12 Triple-A games. Since April 17, the infielder has averaged .391 (18-46) with four doubles, three home runs and 12 RBI. He leads the Bisons with a .289 average.
Bisons Bits
Today's game is the Bisons' first game of 2016 outside of their division...Ten different Bisons players have a stolen base this year, with no one player having more than three steals.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (16-17) were on the short side of a 4-2 score against the Dodgers on Sunday. RHP Marco Estrada struck out eight over seven innings of three-hit baseball to lower his ERA to 2.39. Former Bisons' CF Kevin Pillar had two more hits to push his average over the .300 mark to .301. Toronto is in San Francisco tonight with a 10:15 p.m. first pitch.
