TOLEDO, Ohio - The Louisville Bats continued their 11 game road trip by splitting the doubleheader against the Toledo Mud Hens, losing game one 4-1 before taking the night cap 3-0. The split moves Louisville six games over .500 at 18-12, while the Mud Hens now sit one game below .500 at 14-15.

In game one, the Mud Hens were led by a complete-game win from right-hander Warwick Saupold (3-1, 2.37) and some small ball to beat the Bats.

After loading the bases twice in the second inning, the Mud Hens only scored one run. In the third inning, the Mud Hens pushed their lead to 3-0 with a single and a sac fly. The next inning, Casey McGhee's blast to left field put the Mud Hens up by four runs.

The only damage done by the Bats in the first game was when left fielder Hernan Iribarren extended his hit streak to seven games with an RBI single in the fifth inning. The final score was 4-1 in favor of the Mud Hens.

Bats' right-hander Robert Stephenson (2-2, 2.70) took the loss in game one, allowing four runs on seven hits in his first complete game of the season.

In game two, the Bats hitting came alive as their four hits in the first inning was more than they had in all of game one.

The Bats got on the board in the first inning when third baseman Jermaine Curtis singled to right field scoring left fielder Jesse Winker. In the second inning, a single from short stop Jose Peraza and a sac fly from Winker put the Bats up 3-0 after two innings.

The strong start by the Bats was enough to end Mud Hens right-hander Buck Farmer's (0-1,4.70) night early as he only pitched two and two thirds innings, giving up three runs on nine hits, and he took the loss.

From there it was Bats right-hander Keyvius Sampson (1-1, 0.00) who pitched the Bats to victory with four and one third innings of perfect baseball. Sampson finally gave up a hit in the fifth inning but in his longest outing of the season, he pitched six innings, giving up zero runs on two hits, striking out six. Sampson has not allowed an earned run in 17.2 innings pitched at the Triple-A level this season.

Right hander Jumbo Diaz came on and struck out the side in the seventh to earn his third save of the season, and second in as many nights.

The Bats and Mud Hens will continue their five-game series tomorrow night with a first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Bats' right-hander Daniel Wright (2-0, 0.45 w/PEN) will face Mud Hens' left-hander Matt Boyd (1-2, 2.20).
