Buffalo Bisons News Release
BUFFALO, NY - Playing in the third game of a six-game set from Sahlen Field, the Buffalo Bisons fell to the Worcester Red Sox 6-0 on Thursday night as the Herd was shutout for the second straight game.
It was another bullpen day for the Bisons, and the trio of Joe Biagini, Shaun Anderson, and Brandon Eisert were very effective across their combined seven innings of work. Biagini gave up a solo homer to Ronaldo Hernández in the second which would stand as the only run through the first eight innings.
Anderson went three shutout innings, while Eisert struck out the side in the sixth before facing the minimum in the seventh and picking up another K.
The WooSox also had a balanced effort from their pitching staff, as starter Connor Seabold went three shutout innings before Brian Keller was perfect in his two frames of work.
The Herd had seemingly gotten to Silvino Bracho in the sixth when Otto López led things off with a triple. After Nathan Lukes walked and stole second, the Bisons had two runners in scoring position with nobody out.
Jordan Groshans then smoked a liner to center, but Jarren Duran made an outstanding throw from the outfield to gun down López at the plate to complete the double play and keep the game tied.
Hernández came through again for Worcester in the ninth with an RBI double off Kyle Johnston, before a pair of two-run singles by Jaylin Davis and Duran put the WooSox up 6-0.
The Bisons and WooSox will meet again tomorrow night, with Casey Lawrence back on the mound after throwing a complete game shutout in his last start. The WooSox will send Boston's No. 4 prospect Brayan Bello out to the mound to make his fifth Triple-A start of the year.
Bello began the year at Double-A and carved up the Eastern League in six starts to the tune of a 1.60 ERA before his promotion to Triple-A. In four starts with Worcester, the young righty is 3-0 with a 3.63 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 22.1 innings. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. EST.
