Memphis Outslugged by Durham on Throwback Thursday

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds fell in game three of the six-game series against the Durham Bulls on Thursday night at AutoZone Park by a final score of 10-7.

Memphis got ahead early but allowed nine runs between the fourth and fifth innings to fall behind 9-2. The Redbirds attempted to fight back in the seventh and eighth, but stranded the bases loaded in each inning, clawing back to within three runs.

Left fielder Conner Capel extended his hitting streak to 16 games with a home run, two walks and a single. Capel also moved into a tie for the team lead in stolen bases with Ben DeLuzio, stealing third in the seventh for his 14th of the season. With Capel's three-run homer in the eighth, Memphis extended its home run streak to 17 consecutive games, the highest mark in all of baseball.

Second baseman Cory Spangenberg carried his 3-for-3 performance in Wednesday's victory to tonight, tallying two hits, stealing a base and scoring a run.

Aaron Brooks (1-3) got hit around the yard in his fifth start with Memphis this season. The right-handed starter lasted 3.1 innings, allowed eight runs on nine hits and walked four batters.

The Memphis Redbirds (33-24) will return home to AutoZone Park for game four of a six-game series and 12-game homestand against the Durham Bulls on Friday, June 9 for a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch.
