BUFFALO, N.Y. - For the second straight game, the Worcester Red Sox (29-28) shut out the Buffalo Bisons (31-25), en route to a 6-0 victory on Thursday night at Sahlen Field.
The win was Worcester's third shutout victory of the season. Worcester has not allowed a run over the last 22 innings of the series.
Ronaldo Hernandez drove in two runs for Worcester. He opened the scoring with a solo home run off Joe Biagini in the second inning. Hernandez doubled home a run in the ninth inning. Over his last 13 games, Hernandez is hitting .460 with four home runs and 14 RBIs.
In the sixth inning, Otto Lopez hit a leadoff triple off Silvino Bracho. The next batter, Nathan Lukes, walked and stole second base. Jordan Groshans lined into a double play, with Jarren Duran catching the line drive and throwing out Lopez at home plate trying to score on the play.
Jaylin Davis drove in two with a single in the ninth as part of a three-hit night. Davis now has three multiple-hit games with the WooSox.
Jarren Duran extended his on-base streak to 23 games in the ninth inning with a two-run single. The streak is the second longest active on-base streak in the International League.
In his first start since May 15, Connor Seabold tossed three scoreless innings, walking three and allowing two hits and striking out two.
Brian Keller, Bracho, Thomas Pannone, Zack Kelly, and Frank German followed Seabold and finished off the shutout.
The WooSox are 14-7 over their last 21 games. They are now over .500 for the first time since May 7.
