Mud Hens Sweep Doubleheader against Cubs

TOLEDO - The Toledo Mud Hens and Iowa Cubs played a doubleheader at Fifth Third Field on Thursday night. The Mud Hens took the victory in game one by a score of 1-0. Jose Cisnero (1-0) took the win, Cam Sanders (0-2) took the loss, and Derek Law picked up the save (9). The Mud Hens also grabbed the win in game two, by a score of 3-2. Garrett Hill (1-1) grabbed the win, Mark Leiter Jr. (1-3) was handed the loss, and Miguel Del Pozo (3)
In Game One, Victor Reyes had the big hit, with the Solo Home Run in the 4th inning that would end up as the only run of the game. Dustin Garneau and Brendon Davis each also picked up a hit in the Toledo victory.
On the pitching side, Eduardo Rodriguez made his first rehab start, going 4.0 innings, allowing two hits and nine strikeouts. Jose Cisnero made his 2022 debut on rehab assignment, pitching 1.0 inning, allowing one walk and one strikeout. Cisnero also picked up the win. Drew Carlton pitched 1.0 inning in relief, striking out one and picking up a hold. Derek Law pitched 1.0 inning, picking up the save, striking out one.
In Game Two, the Cubs put up two runs early, but the Mud Hens tallied three runs and all four hits in the 3rd inning. Riley Greene opened the offensive night with a single for the Mud Hens. Trayce Thompson doubled home Greene to put the Hens on the board to make it 2-1. Josh Lester doubled home Thompson to tie the game at 2-2. Ryan Lavarnway would single home Lester to put the Hens in front for good.
Garrett Hill took the start in game two, picking up the win. Hill pitched 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on four hits, two walks and seven strikeouts. Ricardo Pinto pitched 0.2 inning in relief, allowing a hit, walk and a strikeout, picking up a hold. Miguel Del Pozo picked up the save, striking out the only batter he faced in his 0.1 inning.
What's Next - The Toledo Mud Hens host the Iowa Cubs for game four of the six game series in Toledo, with first pitch coming at 7:05 pm.
