Hershey Bears News Release

The BEARS enjoyed its best offensive output of the young season on Friday night, defeating the Binghamton Senators 7-1 at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

HERSHEY struck for three first period goals, starting with Brian Willsie's first goal in a BEARS uniform since the 2002-03 season. Willsie scored just 12 seconds into HERSHEY'S first power play of the night to give the Chocolate and White a 1-0 lead. Jay Beagle would follow with his first goal of the year at 10:39 of the first to increase the visiting team's lead to 2-0. After a Corey Locke strike on the power play for Binghamton, Mathieu Perreault found his first goal of the season at 17:03 to lift HERSHEY to a 3-1 lead at first intermission.

It was more of the same in the second, as HERSHEY scored three more times to run away with it. Kyle Greentree scored his second goal of the season in close against Binghamton goaltender Robin Lehner at 8:50 to make the score 4-1 BEARS. Andrew Gordon tipped a pretty Keith Aucoin pass past Lehner at 11:47 to increase the lead to 5-1, and Francois Bouchard got in on the act at the 18:26 mark. Bouchard scored his first of the year from Perreault and Willsie to make the score 6-1 at the end of two. HERSHEY held a slim shot lead after 40 minutes at 26-22, but Braden Holtby had more saves than his Binghamton counterpart at 21-20.

Bouchard would pick up the final goal of the night at the 2:17 mark of the third, tipping a Willsie shot for a 7-1 final. Willsie enjoyed a four-point night, and Holtby picked up his second win of the season.
