NORFOLK, VA - Cedrick Desjardins made 29 saves in his Norfolk Admirals debut as the Sharks were shutout for the first time on the road since March 22nd in 2009 in a 4-0 loss to the Admirals at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia on Friday night.

The Sharks went 0-for-8 on the power play and Jonathan Cheechoo fired seven shots on goal but Worcester could not find the back of the net. The Admirals received goals from four different skaters and won their home opener in front of 4,835 fans.

The Admirals came out flying in their home opener with two quick goals to open the first period. Former San Jose Sharks first round draft pick Ty Wishart (2nd) fired a seeing-eye wrist shot after a faceoff win inside the Sharks zone that found its way through traffic and past Alex Stalock at 2:16. Mathieu Roy (1st) scored a shorthanded tally at 4:04 to finish off a 2-on-1 rush after a feed from former Worcester Sharks forward Matt Fornataro. Head Coach Roy Sommer used his timeout immediately after the Admirals went ahead 2-0 and the Sharks responded with some physical play. The rest of the period saw several post whistle battles and featured a spirited tussle between Garet Hunt (2nd FM) and Alex Berry (Danvers, MA)at 8:07. The Sharks trailed 2-0 after the first period but outshot Norfolk 12-10.

After the Sharks were unable to convert back-to-back 5-on-3 power play chances and a four minute power play in the second period, James Wright (1st) deflected an Alex Berry shot past Stalock at 18:24 to give Norfolk a 3-0 lead. Worcester held a 21-14 shot advantage through two periods.

Cedric Desjardins, making his debut with the Admirals, after an offseason trade brought him over from the Montreal organization, made several nice stops in the third period before Paul Szczechura (1st) closed the contest out at 15:06 of the third period with a wrister from the right circle to give the Admirals a 4-0 victory.

The Sharks record falls to 1-1-0-1 (3 pts).
