Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI - Linus Klasen scored a pair of second period goals to stake the Admirals to a 2-0 lead, but it wasn't enough as the Chicago Wolves scored the game's final three tallies and took a 3-2 overtime win against Milwaukee Friday night at the Bradley Center. The Ads still earned a point in the standings with the OT defeat.
Chicago's game winner came with just 51 seconds left in the extra frame as forward Spenser Machacek fired a pass from the right corner through the slot and over to teammate Jamie Sifers for a one-timer near the left post that beat Admirals goalie Chet Pickard.
Through two periods it didn't appear as the game would go to overtime as the Admirals controlled the pace of play and got two off the stick of Klasen. The first one came on a penalty shot at 8:31 of the second period as he was taken down from behind on a breakaway. On the penalty shot Klasen skated in slowly and drew Chicago goalie Edward Pasquale out of the net before flipping a backhander softly over his left leg pad.
The Swede's second of the night and fourth of the season came via a more conventional route as he took a beautiful cross-ice pass from Jon Blum and roofed it by Pasquale at the 16:33 mark of the second. Blum and Andreas Thuresson earned assists on the play.
The Wolves didn't wait long into the third to cut the Admirals lead in half as Andre Deveaux lit the lamp on a power-play tally just 52 seconds into the final stanza. Chicago tied it on a Patrick Rissmiller wrister from the left circle that got by a screened Pickard with just over ten minutes to play in the game.
Just getting to overtime from there was a chore for Milwaukee as the team took a pair of penalties in the final six minutes of regulation, but they managed to kill off both of them to earn the point.
The Admirals and Wolves get back at it Saturday night at the All-State Arena. The Ads next home game is Saturday, October 23 at 7:00 pm versus Abbotsford.
