TONIGHT'S GAME

The Houston Aeros (Minnesota Wild) begin their first three-in-three set of the 2010-11 season in Oklahoma City against the Barons (Edmonton Oilers). Tonight's game is the second of 10 meetings between the teams this season. Last Saturday, the Aeros skated to a 6-1 victory over the Barons at the Cox Convention Center. --- Rookie goalie Matt Hackett made 30 saves for his first pro win last week at OKC. He posted solid numbers at Plymouth (OHL) last year (33-18-3, 2.62 GAA, .925 save %). - THREE-POINT OPENERS --- Peter Kalus (2-1-3), Cody Almond (0-3-3) and Jean-Michel Daoust (0-3-3) each collected three points in the season-opener at OKC. - WE KNOW 'EM --- The Aeros have 16 returning players from last season including Jon DiSalvatore, Marco Scandella, Chad Rau, Maxim Noreau, Colton Gillies and Jean-Michel Daoust. - DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH --- Rookie Joel Broda scored a pair of goals at OKC last Saturday. Broda finished second in scoring and first in goals (39-34-73) at Calgary in the Western Hockey League last season. - DRAFT PICKS --- High-round NHL draft picks of the Minnesota Wild playing for the Aeros this season include Matt Hackett (3rd round, 2009), Marco Scandella (2nd round, 2008), Tyler Cuma (1st round, 2008), Colton Gillies (1st round, 2007) and Matt Kassian (2nd round, 2005). - SEASON OPENERS --- The Aeros are now 8-6-1-2 in season-opening road games. At home, Houston is 6-8-0-2 all time in home openers. Saturday's 6-1 win at Oklahoma City was the largest margin of victory in a season-opening win in Aeros franchise history. The previous high was a 5-1 win at Milwaukee to start the 2003-04 season. The largest margin of victory for an opponent in a season-opener was a 7-3 loss at Fort Wayne in 1995-96. - ROSTER MOVES --- The Aeros reassigned goaltender Josh Tordjman to Bakersfield of the ECHL on Tuesday...The Minnesota Wild reassigned defenseman Drew Bagnall, left wing Matt Kassian, goalie Anton Khudobin and forward Casey Wellman to the Aeros from the National Hockey League (NHL) club last Saturday. -

LAST GAME RECAP

Peter Kalus registered a three-point night (2-1-3) and Joel Broda (2-0-0) scored twice as the Houston Aeros opened the 2010-11 season with a 6-1 win over the Oklahoma City Barons at the Cox Convention Center Saturday night. Aeros goalie Matt Hackett turned aside 30 shots, including 14 in the third period, for his first pro win while Mike Yeo guided the team to a victory in his head coaching debut.
