
Bats Hit a Pair of Homers in 4-3 Loss

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats (28-51) were defeated by the Toledo Mud Hens (35-43) by a 4-3 score at Louisville Slugger Field. For his first Triple-A hit, Cassidy Brown hit a home run in his Triple-A debut.
The Mud Hens got on the board first in the second inning with a solo shot from Dustin Peterson who went 2-for-3. Dawel Lugo, who went 3-for-4, followed in the fourth inning with a solo shot of his own to put Toledo up 2-0. The fifth inning went much like the previous with a solo home run from Daz Cameron for Toledo.
The fourth solo home run of the game and first run for the Bats came in the sixth inning from Brown. Aristides Aquino hit a two-run homer scoring Josh VanMeter to tie the game at three in the sixth. Christian Colon went 2-for-3 in the game with a double.
The game remained tied until the top of the ninth. Daniel Pinero hit an RBI double to score Lugo from third to put the Mud Hens up 4-3.
Pitching for the Bats, Jackson Stephens (5-4, 4.78) got the loss pitching an inning giving up one run on three hits. Eric Stout started for Louisville pitching 5.0 innings giving up three runs on five hits and striking out one. Jimmy Herget pitched 1.2 innings giving up a hit and walking two while Joel Kuhnel pitched 1.1 innings and struck out one. The win went to Eduardo Jimenez (3-2, 2.76) for Toledo who pitched 2.0 innings walking one and striking out one.
Louisville stays at home to start a three-game series against the Columbus Clippers with first pitch set for Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Louisville Slugger Field. It's a righty-righty matchup with Keury Mella (4-7, 5.33) set to pitch for the Bats and Michael Peoples (4-3, 4.32) set to pitch for the Clippers.
