LHP Mark Cohoon (2-3, 2.06) vs. LHP Shaeffer Hall (2-4, 4.17)

Game #36 - Tuesday, May 15, 2012

NYSEG Stadium - Binghamton, NY - 6:35 PM

LAST GAME: The B-Mets matched a season-high with three home runs, including a go-ahead, two-run blast by Jefry Marte in the seventh inning, to defeat the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 7-6 Sunday afternoon at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The victory secured Binghamton's first series win in May and was their third one-run win of the year. Armando Rodriguez earned the win with two scoreless innings of relief. Matt den Dekker and Sean Kazmareach supplied solo home runs in the fifth inning. Robert Carson recorded five outs to collect his first career save.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: LHP Mark Cohoon (2-3, 2.06) makes his seventh start of the season. He took his first no-decision of the year in his previous start against the New Britain Rock Cats on May 8. He allowed just one unearned run on four hits and did not walk a batter over six innings in a game the B-Mets would lose by a 4-3 score. The southpaw from Burleson, Texas has not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his first six starts. He started last season with the B-Mets, going 1-3 with a 3.81 ERA in nine starts before being promoted to Buffalo (AAA) in late May. In 18 starts with the Bisons, Cohoon went 4-11 and compiled a 6.11 ERA. A 12th-round pick in the June 2008 draft by the Mets, the southpaw is in his fifth season of pro baseball. It's his third year with the B-Mets.

RHP Shaeffer Hall (2-4, 4.17) takes the ball for his team-leading eighth start of the season. The southpaw is currently on a three-game losing streak, having not won since April 16. He lost his previous game against the Reading Phillies on May 9, allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits over seven hitting. It matched his longest performance of the season, done twice before in 2012. Selected in the 25th round of the 2009 draft out of the University of Kansas, Hall is in his fourth year of pro ball and second with the Thunder. The Missouri native made 24 starts with Trenton last year, going 10-8 with a 4.12 ERA. He made one appearance with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees, earning a win.

SURPRISING POWER: The B-Mets matched a season-high with three home runs in Sunday's win over the Fisher Cats. Matt den Dekker hit his team-leading fifth of the year, while Jefry Marte and Sean Kazmar both stroked their first of the season. Kazmar's blast was his first since July 17, 2011, when he was a member of the Tacoma Rainiers, the Seattle Mariners' Triple-A affiliate.

SAVE AT LAST: B-Mets reliever Robert Carson racked up five outs on Sunday to collect his first career save. It was just Binghamton's fifth save of the year, fewest in the Eastern League. The B-Mets active roster has combined for just two saves, Carson (1) and Jeff Kaplan (1). Josh Edgin (2) and Elvin Ramirez (1) are currently with the Buffalo Bisons (AAA).

STREAKING ALONG: Matt den Dekker's two-run double in the third inning Sunday extended his hitting streak to nine games, matching a personal season-high. Jefry Marte holds the team season-high with a ten-game hitting streak in mid-April. Both Juan Lagares and Eric Campbell currently own seven-game hitting streaks.

AND SO IT BEGINS: Yesterday the B-Mets enjoyed their first off day in three weeks. Tonight starts a stretch of 27 games in 27 days before their next off day on June 11. The journey includes three road trips and just 11 home games. It is their longest uninterrupted action of the season.

AGAINST THE THUNDER: The B-Mets welcome in the Double-A New York Yankees for the first of three visits to the Southern Tier. Binghamton went 6-7 against Trenton in 2011, including a 2-1 mark at NYSEG Stadium. Overall, the B-Mets have gone 163-175 against the Thunder organization, dating back to their time as the London Tigers (1992-1993).

NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets continue their three-game set against the Trenton Thunder tomorrow night at 6:35 PM. RHP Collin McHugh takes the mound for Binghamton against RHP Brett Marshall.
