Tri-City Americans News Release

Americans @ Rockets

Saturday, February 12 | Kelowna, B.C.| Prospera Place

Start Time: 7:05 p.m PST

The Americans will play their third game on a four game road trip tonight in Kelowna. The only other time the two teams have met this season was a week ago in Kennewick when the Rockets took a 6-1 victory. Chase Friedt-Mohr netted Tri-City's lone goal with his first since joining the Americans. Jake Lee and Andew Cristall led the Rockets with a pair of goals each. Tonight will be Ethan Ernst's first game back at Prospera Place since being traded from the Rockets last fall.

The Americans wrapped up their three game season series against the B.C. Division leading Kamloops Blazers last night. After defeating the Blazers in both prior meetings this season, the Americans struggled to find their groove in Kamloops and fell 6-1.

The Blazers jumped out to a dominate 4-0 lead in the first period. They followed with one more goal in each the the second and third periods to take a 6-0 lead. The Ams were finally able to break past the Blazers with a goal from Sam Huo 7:08 into the final frame. Huo swept in a rebound off a shot from Chase Friedt-Mohr for his 14th goal of the season.

Last night was the first time Ams forward Ethan Ernst faced his brother, Kamloops netminder Dylan Ernst, in a WHL regular season game. Tomas Suchanek started in net for the Americans and stopped 14 of 18 shots faced in the first period. Nick Avakyan relieved Suchanek in net for the remaining two periods, turning aside 29 of 31 shots faced.

Tri-City's second overall selection from the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft, Jordan Gavin, has been called up from Delta HA U17 and will join the team this week. The Surrey, BC native has totalled 81 points (36 goals and 45 assists) in 20 games played with Delta.

The Americans will look to get back in the win column tonight after yesterday's loss. The Rockets have played the Everett Silvertips in their two most recent games, falling in Everett last weekend and taking a 4-3 shootout victory last night in Kelowna.
