December 22, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL)
Adirondack Thunder News Release
GLENS FALLS, NY - Alex Sakellaropoulos made 32 saves and Alex Carrier potted his first goal of the season as the Adirondack Thunder blanked the Brampton Beast 1-0 Saturday night at Cool Insuring Arena.
The game's only goal was scored at 9:08 of the opening period by Carrier, the Thunder's power forward. Newcomer Dylan Walchuk slapped a pass around that boards that was collected by Kelly Summers at the right point. Summers flicked a wrist-shot on net that Carrier redirected out in front and by Austin Lotz for the 1-0 lead that would stay the rest of the contest.
Sakellaropoulos turned aside all 32 shots he faced in his first professional shutout, making his career-high ninth consecutive start in net for the Thunder. The Tinley Park, IL native's last shutout came when he was at Union College on December 5, 2015 when the Dutchmen topped Devin Buffalo and the Dartmouth Big Green 3-0 at Messa Rink in Schenectady, NY.
The Thunder enter the Christmas break on a two-game winning streak and they will hit the ice next weekend for a trio of games. The Manchester Monarchs come to Glens Falls for games on Friday and Saturday evenings before Adirondack hosts the Newfoundland Growlers at Cool Insuring Arena on New Year's Eve at 5:00 p.m. Don't miss out on the 2 Tickets For $20.19 special and get ready for the 5-4-3-2-1 countdown.
