Vaive's Pair Not Enough as Cyclones Streak Snapped

Cincinnati Cyclones News Release
Allen, TX - The Cincinnati Cyclones (19-5-2-2) fell to the Americans, 4-3 in a shootout, on Friday night. Forward Justin Vaive led the Cyclones with a pair of goals, while forward Alex Wideman netted one for the Cyclones, who see their seven-game winning streak snapped.
It only took the Cyclones 59 seconds to find the back of the net, as a point shot from defenseman Arvin Atwal was kicked out by Allen goaltender CJ Motte, but Vaive was in front to jam in the rebound to give Cincinnati an early 1-0 lead.
After the Americans tied the game 47 seconds later on a goal from defensemanDavid Makowski, the Cyclones regained the lead late in the frame when forward Jesse Schultz found Wideman on the back door, and he slapped the puck in to give Cincinnati a 2-1 edge after 20 minutes. The assist stretched Schultz's pointstreak to 10 games.
In the second, the Americans tied the game, 2-2, on a shorthanded goal from forward Zach Porchiro, however with five and a half to go in the third, Vaive gave the lead back when he saved the puck at the left wing blue line and tossed a shot that slipped between the legs of Motte to give Cincinnati the lead back, 3-2.
The momentum was short-lived however, as with 9.8 seconds left and with the goaltender pulled, Allen tied the game, 3-3, when Porchiro netted his second of the night to force overtime.
In the extra session, both teams traded scoring chances for the entire five minutes. Both Motte and Cyclones goaltender Jonas Johansson were charged with keeping the 3-3 stalemate in tact by making several spectacular saves to force a shootout.
In the skills competition, Allen's Adam Miller netted the lone goal for either team to send the Americans to a 4-3 shootout win, and snapping their eight-game slide in the process.
