After extending their winning streak to three games with a 2-1 win against Charlotte on Wednesday, the Devils lost to Norfolk, 3-2, on Saturday. Nathan Perkovich led all scorers with two points, including a goal and an assist. Next up, the Devils hit the road for a four-game road trip, which includes games at Hartford, Providence and Syracuse this week.

THE WEEK THAT WAS:

Wednesday, Devils 3 vs. Charlotte 2

Michael Swift netted the game-winning goal with 4:23 remaining in regulation to lift the Devils to a 2-1 victory against Charlotte. The game was a homecoming of sorts for the Checkers, who called the Capital Region home for the past four seasons as the River Rats. The Devils and Checkers exchanged goals in the first period with Charlotte's Chris Terry striking at 7:15. Adam Henrique squared things with his first career goal at 9:52. In goal, Jeff Frazee made 25 stops for his second win.

Saturday, Devils 1 vs. Norfolk 2

The Admirals jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a pair of power-play goals. Ty Wishart scored at 5:41 of the first and Blair Jones, who had a goal and two assists, found the back of the net at 2:54 of the second. In response, Nathan Perkovich's wrist shot cut the lead in half at 12:40 of the second and Brad Mills' highlight-reel goal evened things at 15:08 of the same period. Paul Szczechura then won it with 5:05 remaining with another Norfolk power-play goal.

NOTABLES:

- Four of the Devils' first five games have been decided by one goal. Albany has posted a 3-1-0-0 record during that span.

- After missing the first two games of the season, Nathan Perkovich is on a three-game scoring streak. He tallied his first goal in a 4-3, overtime win at Adirondack on Oct. 16 and then followed with an assist in a 2-1 victory against Charlotte on Oct. 20 and a goal in a 3-2 loss against Norfolk on Oct. 23. Perkovich and Harry Young lead the team with a plus-4 rating.

- Olivier Magnan and Alexander Vasyunov both played games for the New Jersey Devils this week. Magnan was recalled to New Jersey on Monday, Oct. 18 and made his NHL debut on Thursday, Oct. 21 in a 3-0 win at Montreal. He was a plus-1 in the game. Vasyunov was recalled to the NHL Devils on Saturday, Oct. 23 for a game against Buffalo. He was returned on loan to Albany on Sunday, Oct. 24. Including Magnan and Vasyunov, the Devils have had seven players that have played in an NHL and AHL game this season. They are: Matt Corrente, Tim Sestito, Jacob Josefson, Alexander Urbom and Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond.

Wednesday, Devils at Hartford (7:00 p.m.)

The Wolf Pack is on a three-game skid, losing to Norfolk (5-1) on Oct. 20, Binghamton (1-0) on Oct. 22 and Syracuse (2-1) on Oct. 23. Entering Wednesday's outing against Albany, Hartford is in fourth place in the Atlantic Division with a 3-3-1-1 record. Kris Newbury leads the team with eight points - all assists - while Jeremy Williams (4g-2a), Dan Byers (2g-4a) and Wade Redden (1g-5a) are tied for second with six points.

Friday, Devils at Providence (7:05 p.m.)

The Bruins have lost three of their last four games, but are coming off a win at Worcester (4-3) on Oct. 23. The team currently sits in sixth place in the Atlantic Division with a 2-3-0-1 record. Steven Kampfer leads the team with five points, including a team-best four assists. Maxime Sauve and Jamie Arniel are second with four points with three goals and an assist each.

Saturday, Devils at Syracuse (7:30 p.m.)

East Division rival Syracuse, is on a three-game winning streak with wins against Binghamton (2-1) on Oct. 16, against Norfolk (3-1) on Oct. 22 and at Hartford (2-1) on Oct. 23. After beginning the season 1-1-0-1, the team has improved its overall record to 3-2-0-1 and is tied for fourth in the division. Both goaltenders, Timo Pielmeier and Jean-Philippe Levasseaur, have goals-against averages under two. Pielmeier is showing a 1.51 average with a 3-1-0-0 record and a .956 save percentage. Levasseur has a 1.93 average with a 0-1-0-1 mark and a .939 save percentage.
