Michael Nylander Undergoes Succesfful Neck Surgery

(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Americans announced today that veteran forward Michael Nylander underwent successful neck surgery this morning and is expected to make a full recovery. Nylander suffered a fracture to the vertebrae in his neck during the second period of Rochester's 4-1 loss to the Grand Rapids Griffins this past Saturday night at The Blue Cross Arena. The procedure was performed this morning at Strong Memorial Hospital by Dr. Robert Molinari, Spinal Surgeon and Dr. Robert Bronstein, Orthopaedic Surgeon, of the University of Rochester Medical Center.

Rochester kicks off a season-long four-game road swing tonight with the first of back-to-back tilts with Abbotsford Heat at the Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre. The same two teams will meet again in Tuesday, October 26th to complete the two-game set. Both contests are slated for 10:00 p.m. EST starts and can be heard live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk.
