Hershey Looking To Climb East Division Ladder With Games Against Crunch, Penguins And Monarchs

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club won back-to-back games over the Adirondack Phantoms Saturday and Sunday to move within three points of first place Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the East Division race. HERSHEY outscored Adirondack 9-3 in taking both games at Giant Center.

Another three games in three nights stretch awaits the Chocolate and White Friday night, beginning with a road game in Syracuse against the Crunch at 7:30 p.m. HERSHEY then returns home Saturday to welcome I-81 rival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to town. The Manchester Monarchs make its only appearance at Giant Center in 2010-11 on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for both weekend games along HERSHEYPARK Drive are available at the GIANT Center box office or by calling (717) 534-3911.

Top of the charts (again): Keith Aucoin, who won last year's AHL scoring title and was named the league's most valuable player, finds himself in familiar territory on the scoring list. With 13 points on three goals and 10 assists, Aucoin leads all AHL skaters in scoring, one point ahead of former BEARS forward Mathieu Beaudoin in the race.

Gordon getting the goals: Right wing Andrew Gordon leads the team in goals with six heading into Friday's game at Syracuse, and he also ranks second in the AHL in goals scored at the close of games on Sunday. Gordon scored two power play goals in HERSHEY'S 4-2 win over Adirondack Sunday, and has at least a point in every BEARS game so far this season.

When in Rome...: Right wing Ashton Rome scored two goals and was named the game's number one star Saturday night in a 5-1 win over Adirondack at Giant Center. He followed up that performance with a goal and assist Sunday in a 4-2 win over the Phantoms.

Practice schedule: HERSHEY will skate Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Giant Center for practice this week.

Holtby in the zone: Goaltender Braden Holtby won his fourth straight start Sunday against Adirondack. The second year backstop is second in the AHL in wins with four, and carries a sparkling 1.97 goals against average into the new week, and has a saves percentage of 93.3 percent.

Upcoming promotions: Saturday, October 30 is rally towel night, when the Wilkes- Barre/Scranton Penguins invade Giant Center at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31 is Reese's Trick or Treat Night, when the BEARS take on the Manchester Monarchs at 5:00 p.m. All fans 12 and under receive free Halloween candy courtesy of Reese's.
