
Admirals Sign Forward Matt Fornataro To Tryout

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals have signed forward Matt Fornataro to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).
Fornataro, 24, a 6-foot-0, 190-pound center from Calgary, Alberta, has played the majority of this season with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL. In 33 games, he has 18 goals and 36 points, leading the Stingrays in both categories. He ranks fifth in ECHL points and is tied for second in goals. His seven power play goals are tied for the most in the ECHL. He has points in each of his last 12 games for the Stingrays (9G, 9A). In 54 career ECHL games between the Stingrays and Phoenix RoadRunners, Fornataro has 28 goals and 61 points.
Fornataro also appeared in one game with the American Hockey League's Houston Aeros earlier this season. The second-year pro has appeared in 53 career AHL games between Houston, the Worcester Sharks and the Syracuse Crunch, scoring 11 goals and 26 points. Last season, he appeared in 51 games for the Sharks, scoring ten goals and 25 points.
Fornataro appeared in 156 games in a four-year collegiate hockey career with the University of New Hampshire scoring 44 goals and 118 points.
The Admirals are in the midst of a three-game road trip and will face the Adirondack Phantoms in the second game of that trip tonight at 7:00 p.m.
The next home action for the Admirals will be a pair of games against the Syracuse Crunch on Friday and Saturday, January 8-9. Friday is All Faith Night with special discounted group tickets available for organizations of all faiths.
