Heat burns Rampage in shootout

SAN ANTONIO TX - The Abbotsford Heat bounced back from a 3-1 setback Friday, with a come from behind 3-2 shootout win over the San Antonio Rampage on Saturday in AHL action from the Alamo City.

The San Antonio Rampage continued their dominance of the Abbotsford HEAT on the power play, scoring 2 goals with the man advantage to open up a 2-0 lead after twenty minutes. Ryan Hollweg and Ryan Weston paced the attack for the Rampage, as the San Antonio power play scored nine goals in their four game season series versus Abbotsford.

But the HEAT bounced back with a power play goal of their own by Colin Stuart mid second period, followed by a pretty tip in by Peter Vandermeer in the final minute of the middle frame to tie the game at 2 through forty minutes.

After a scoreless third period and overtime, this game went to a shootout. In the ninth round, Abbotsford BC product David VanderGulik scored on Justin Pogge to give the HEAT the win.

Abbotsford will wrap up their five game road trip with a game on Sunday afternoon in Houston versus the Houston Aeroes.
