
Three Former Crunch Players To Participate In Olympic Winter Games In Vancouver

Syracuse, NY (January 2, 2010) - The Syracuse Crunch announced today that former players Jarkko Ruutu (Finland), Ole-Kristian Tollefsen (Norway) and Raffaele Sannitz (Switzerland) have been selected to participate for their respective countries at the Olympic Winter Games, to be held from February 12 - 28, 2010 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Ruutu, 34, appeared in 65 games with the Crunch during the 1999-00 season, ranking second on the team in goals (26) and third in points (58) and penalty minutes (164) that year. Ruutu has skated in 534 combined NHL games with Vancouver, Pittsburgh and Ottawa, collecting 50 goals, 68 assists and 67 penalty minutes. A native of Helsinki, Finland, Ruutu was selected by Vancouver in the third round, 68th overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft.
Tollefsen, 25, appeared in 122 games with the Crunch from 2004-06, notching two goals, 19 assists and 270 penalty minutes. Tollefsen has skated in 155 combined NHL games with Columbus and Philadelphia, tallying four goals, eight assists and 290 penalty minutes. A native of Oslo, Norway, Tollefsen was selected by Columbus in the third round, 65th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
Sannitz, 26, appeared in 53 games with the Crunch during the 2004-05 season, collecting six goals, nine assists and 38 penalty minutes. Sannitz is currently playing with Lugano (Switzerland). A native of Mendrisio, Switzerland, Sannitz was selected by Columbus in the seventh round, 204th overall in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
The Crunch's next game is Saturday, January 2 when they battle Albany at 7:30 p.m. at the War Memorial at Oncenter.
