
Wranglers stop RoadRunners 6-2

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers (33-10-13, 79 points) defeated the Phoenix Roadrunners (24-28-5, 53 points) 6-2 on Friday night in front of 6,520 fans at the Orleans Arena. Wranglers' forward Derek Edwardson scored twice and added an assist in the Las Vegas win. Line mates Steve Crampton (0G, 3A) and Shawn Limpright (1G, 3A) combined for a goal and six assists. Wranglers' defensemen Ryan Bonni and Scott Schoneck each added a goal as Las Vegas improved to 9-0-2 in their last 11 games at home. Wranglers' goalie Mike McKenna made 17 saves, improving to 19-3-6 on the season. Roadrunners' forwards Justin Aikins and Brock Hooton each scored in the loss. Las Vegas hosts Phoenix again tomorrow night at 7:05pm at the Orleans Arena.
In the first period, the Wranglers' power play started the scoring as Scott Schoneck pinched in from the right point to hammer home his fifth goal of the season, giving Las Vegas a 1-0 lead. Center Derek Edwardson scored his first goal of the night at 16:11, giving the Wranglers a 2-0 lead. Phoenix winger Justin Aikins tallied his 22nd goal of the season to bring the RoadRunners to within a goal at 2-1. Edwardson scored his second goal of the period and 19th goal of the season to give the Wranglers a 3-1 lead at the end of the first.
In the second period, Las Vegas forward Shawn Limpright scored just 35-seconds into the period to make the score 4-1. Wranglers' defenseman Ryan Bonni scored his third goal of the season, giving Las Vegas a 5-1 lead at the end of two.
In the third period, Joe Tallari scored a power-play goal from Steve Crampton to push the Wranglers lead to 6-1. Phoenix winger Brock Hooton ended the scoring with his 14th goal of the year for the final score of 6-2
