California Native Johnson, Thunder Agree To Terms

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers, has agreed to terms with rookie left wing Donald Johnson. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Johnson is scheduled to make his debut with the Thunder tonight against the Cincinnati Cyclones and will wear jersey number 18.

Johnson, 23, has appeared in 18 games this season with the Long Beach Ice Dogs of the ECHL, scoring five points (3g-2a) with 14 penalty minutes. The Anaheim Hills, California native appeared in nine games over a two-year span (2004-06) during his college hockey career at University of Alaska-Fairbanks (NCAA), posting an assist with four penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound forward enjoyed a 71-point campaign (22g-49a) in junior hockey with the South Surrey Eagles (BCHL) during 2003-04, leading the team with 22 points (13g-9a) in 13 playoff games and was named the Eagles' playoff Most Valuable Player.

The Thunder returns to play tonight against Cincinnati at 7:30 p.m., beginning an eight-game homestand at Stockton Arena. The game can be heard live on the internet (free-of-charge) and is available for viewing for a $6 "pay-per-view" charge at www.stocktonthunder.com (courtesy of B2 Networks).
