Toledo Jumps into Second Place

Toledo, OH) The Toledo Storm (29-22-1) used a second consecutive 50 plus shot performance to down Trenton (26-23-5) 4-3 tonight. You can a view a complete box score of tonight's game at Toledo vs. Trenton . With the win, Toledo has taken over second place in the ECHL North Division.

Toledo collected a 1-0 lead late in the first period when Chris Blight intercepted a pass at the red line and scored on a breakaway for his 17th goal of the season at 18:25. Toledo led 1-0 after the shorthanded goal from Blight. In the second period, Trenton forward Scott Bertoli scored his 17th goal of the season as he deposited a shorthanded chance past Storm goaltender Logan Koopmans at 5:28. Koopmans, making his first start for Toledo since December 9th, made 32 saves for the win. Trenton would take the lead at 19:15, when on the power play, Scott Bertoli collected his second goal of the game beating Koopmans high to the glove side.

Toledo would tie the game at 2 in the third period when Matt Zultek capitalized on a Chris Blight pass, using a one-timer to beat Trenton goaltender Joel Martin (L, 46 saves). The Storm would jump into the lead at 7:45 when Taylor Raszka netted his second goal of the season. Dan Watson dumped the puck into the Titans zone from center ice, the puck bounced off the backboard into the front of the net for Raszka. Trenton would tie the game at 15:30 when Brian Miller beat Koopmans from the right circle. Just 39 seconds later Matt Zultek took a shot that Martin stopped, but the rebound hit Bruce Mulherin and banged into the back of the net for Mulherin's 5th goal of the year.

Toledo has 107 shots in the past 2 games. The same two teams will meet again Saturday night at the Toledo Sports Arena.
