Augusta Lynx News Release

Augsuta, GA - Aaron Slattengren's second period power play goal provided the margin of victory as the Augusta Lynx defeated the Florida Everblades 2-1 Friday night at the James Brown Arena.

Eric Lundberg's point shot rebounded off the right pad of Everblades netminder Craig Kowalski and right onto Slattengren's stick in the low slot. His wrist shot flew just under the crossbar at 7:56 to make it 2-1 Augusta.

Joe Pereira kicked off the scoring earlier in the period with a shot that beat Kowalski through the legs with an assist to Dirk Southern at 4:54. Pereira cleared the puck out of the Augusta zone with a hard check on an Everblades defender, starting the rush that led to the goal.

In the third, the Everblades finally beat Dave McKee as Dustin Johner rifled a one-time shot from the slot to the stick side, making it 2-1.

Florida would pull the goaltender for a six-on-five advantage, but a late hooking call against Vince Bellissimo effectively ended the Everblades threat.

McKee finished with 26 saves in earning the win while Kowalski stopped 36 shots in taking the loss.

Augusta is back in action tomorrow night against the Charlotte Checkers at 7:35 pm, with the team auctioning off the white set of team jerseys following the game. You must be at the game to bid on the sweaters, so make sure to get your tickets at the James Brown Arena box office or by calling the Lynx office at (706) 724-4ICE!
