Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons had their four-game winning streak come to an end on Friday night as they fell to the Victoria Salmon Kings 3-1 in front of 4,832 fans at Save Mart Center.

Victoria scored two goals in the final 2:54 of the opening period to take a 2-0 lead into the first intermission. Paul Ballantyne scored at 17:06 off of a face-off win by F.P. Guenette, and Guenette added a goal of his own, on a Salmon Kings power-play, at 19:39.

The Salmon Kings added to their lead with another power-play goal 17:31 into the second period. Mike Stutzel swept the puck by Ryan MacDonald from the right-wing circle for Victoria's second power-play goal of the night, giving the Salmon Kings a 3-0 lead through 40 minutes.

Fresno got on the scoreboard 3:13 into the final period as Luke Curtin took a centering feed from Lucas Lawson, and slid a shot past goaltender Julien Ellis cutting the Victoria lead to 3-1. With the goal, Curtin extended his scoring streak to nine games.

That would be as close as the Falcons would get, as Ellis stopped 10 of 11 Fresno shots in the third period, and 37 shots on the night.
