
Wranglers stay unbeaten at home

Las Vegas, NV - The Las Vegas Wranglers (10-4-1, 21 Points) beat the Johnstown Chiefs (4-7-5, 14 points) 5-4 in a shootout in front of 4,010 fans at the Orleans Arena on Tuesday night. Las Vegas center Derek Edwardson scored two goals in regulation, and another in the shootout. The Las Vegas Wranglers set a new team record with 58 shots on goal. Wranglers' goalie Marc Magliarditi made 30 saves in the win, pushing his record to 7-4-0 on the season. Johnstown goaltender Morgan Cey made 54 saves in the losing effort. Las Vegas is 8-0-0 at home this season. The Wranglers head to Phoenix on Thursday to play the Roadrunners and return home this weekend to play the Idaho Steelheads at 7:05pm.
Johnstown winger John Toffey scored the only goal of the first period to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead.
In the second period, Las Vegas center Chris Stanley tied the game at 1-1 with his seventh goal of the season at 5:34 of the second period. Johnstown scored just four minutes later as winger Randy Rowe scored his first goal of the game, giving the Chiefs a 2-1 lead. With nine seconds left in the period, defenseman Christian Chartier rifled a power-play goal past Johnstown goalie Morgan Cey to tie the game 2-2.
In the third period, former Wrangler Justin Kelly scored just 28 seconds into the period, giving Johnstown a 3-2 lead. The Wranglers bounced right back, tying the game at three when Derek Edwardson scored his fifth goal of the season. Edwardson added another goal with seven minutes remaining in the game to give the Wranglers a 4-3 lead. The Chiefs tied the game with ten seconds left in regulation as Randy Rowe scored from his knees in front of the net.
After a scoreless overtime, the Wranglers scored on two of four shots in the shootout to win the game 5-4. Magliarditi stopped four of five Chiefs shooters.
This weekend the Wranglers host the first place Idaho Steelheads on Friday and Saturday night. Friday night will feature the first ever "Sing for Santa Night". Children from schools all around the valley will be on hand to sing Christmas carols and help spread holiday cheer. Saturday night, Balloon Man will perform during the intermissions. From 4:30-6:30 pm fans may attend the Port of Subs pre-game party in the parking lot of the Orleans Arena. For Saturday's game fans are encouraged to bring coats and clothing for a Clothing Drive for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Las Vegas. Fans can bring the items to the Port of Subs Pre-game party.
