Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Condors today announced the signing of right wing Jason Norrie.
Norrie, 28, joins the Condors after beginning the season with the London Racers of the UK's Elite League. The 6-foot-3 forward scored five goals and six assists in 19 games with London, who released their players after canceling their season last week. While with London, the Calgary, Alberta ative scored his 100th career goal. Since beginning his pro career in 1998, Norrie has suited up for six different ECHL teams for a total of five years in the league. In 406 career games, Norrie has scored 100 goals and 136 assists.
Norrie will dress for the Condors' match-up this evening with the Johnstown Chiefs.
Other notes: The Condors placed LW/C Sean Venedam on the 7-Day Injured Reserve on Tuesday. The Condors captain will be eligible to come off the injured list for the December 9th home contest against the Stockton Thunder. Venedam's IR placement coincides with the signing of the veteran Norrie, keeping the Condors at the ECHL limit of four veterans (defined as players with 260 professional games played) per team.
The Condors return to the ice tonight when they host the Johnstown Chiefs at the Rabobank Arena. Fans who donate a coat or jacket for the Project Warm Families Coat Collection will receive a $1 terrace ticket. All fans in attendance will receive a Condors "Old Time Hockey" poster, featuring several members of the team dressed as characters from the movie "Slap Shot".
The Stanley Cup will be making its first-ever visit to Bakersfield and will be on display before and during the game. Donations will be accepted and directed to the Hurricane Relief Fund to assist the Mississippi Sea Wolves and Texas Wildcatters, whose seasons were called off due to arena damage from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
