
Ice Pilots Win 4-3 at Augusta

Pensacola, FL - The Pensacola Ice Pilots got a goal by Luke Fulghum with 56 seconds left in regulation to defeat the Augusta Lynx 4-3 at Augusta, Georgia on Wednesday night.
The Ice Pilots weathered the storm in the first period as Augusta out shot the Ice Pilots 21-4. The Ice Pilots took a 1-0 lead as Brendon Cook scored on a breakaway at the 8:45 mark beating Augusta goalie Jason Wolfe on a backhand. Augusta would tie the game on a power play goal by Nicolas Corbeil at the 16:02 mark.
Shaun Landolt would score his first professional goal to give the Ice Pilots a 2-1 lead on an odd man rush at the 10:10 mark of the second period. Chris St. Jacques lead the attack and passed the puck over to Landolt who fired away a hard slap shot from the right wing circle that beat Augusta goalie Jason Wolfe.
The Lynx would tie the game 1:06 seconds left in the third period on a goal by Dan Sullivan but the Ice Pilots would regain the lead as Brendan Cook scored his second goal of the game at the 7:28 mark. Nicolas Corbeil would tie the game at 3 with his second goal of the game at the 9:29 mark. Luke Fulghum would score the game winning goal for the Ice Pilots with 56 seconds left taking a pass from Adam Courchaine down low in the crease over and roofing it over the shoulder of Jason Wolfe.
Frederic Cloutier was the winning goalie for the Ice Pilots and Jason Wolfe took the loss in goal for Augusta. The Ice Pilots had 17 shots on goal, 14 penalty minutes and went 0-4 on the power play. Augusta had 40 shots on goal, 10 penalty minutes and went 1-6 on the power play.
The Ice Pilots ended the five game road trip with a record of 3-1-1 and improved their record to 6-8-2 for 14 points. Augusta dropped their record to 7-7-2 for 16 points.
The Ice Pilots will return home to play Bakersfield in three games this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is the Triple Play Jackpot Weekend with $15,000 to be g iven away. $5,000 will be given away each night. To qualify for the prize money, fans need to be a season ticket holder or purchase a Triple Play Weekend ticket package by calling the Ice Pilots at 432-PUCK ext: 269.
The first 1,000 fans will receive Ice Pilots pens at the game on Friday night vs. Bakersfield at 7:05 p.m. Chris St. Jacques and David Turon will sign autographs after the game. The first 500 fans will receive Ice Pilots mouse pads before the game on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. Chris Heid and Adam Courchaine will sign autographs after the game.
A Teddy Bear Toss will take place at the Ice Pilots home game on Sunday vs. Bakersfield at 4:05 p.m. Fans are asked to bring a stuffed animal teddy bear to the game and throw it onto the ice when the Ice Pilots score their first goal of the game. The teddy bears will be distributed to local charities in the community.
