Checkers acquire Lavelle from Florida

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Derek Wilkinson, head coach and general manager of the Charlotte Checkers, announced today that the team has acquired defenseman Kevin Lavallee from the Florida Everblades completing an early-season trade which dealt Phil Aucoin to Florida.

Lavallee, a 6-foot-1-inch, 201-pounder from Montreal, Quebec, had skated in 12 games this season with the Everblades. He did not record any points with Florida, but had eight penalty minutes and was a +4 rating.

Lavallee, 23, is in his first season playing professionally in the states. He spent the past four seasons playing professionally in Germany. Prior to Germany, he played one season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
