
Wranglers Fall in Shootout to Steelheads, 3-2

Las Vegas, NV- The Las Vegas Wranglers® (19-22-5, 43 Points) were defeated by the Idaho Steelheads (31-11-3, 65 Points) 3-2 in the shootout in front of 4,387 fans Friday night at the Orleans Arena. Idaho forward Tyler Spurgeon scored the only shootout marker in the Steelheads victory. Spurgeon also scored in regulation, and forward Mark Derlago tallied a goal and an assist for Idaho in their league leading 31st win. Steelheads goalie Rejean Beauchemin made 13 saves in the win. Wranglers left wing Ned Lukacevic led the way for Las Vegas netting two goals. Las Vegas goalie Michael Ouzas stopped 24 of 26 shots in the loss. The Wranglers will take on the Idaho Steelheads Saturday, February 6th, at 7:05 p.m. at the Orleans Arena.
Just 1:09 into the first period, the Steelheads opened the scoring with a power-play goal from enter Tyler Spurgeon. Spurgeon snapped in his 13th goal of the season on the first shot of the game, for the 1-0 Idaho lead.
After a scoreless second period, the Wranglers pulled even with a power-play goal from left wing Ned Lukacevic. Forwards Andrew Orpik and Adam Miller set up Lukacevic's 50th professional career goal, and 18th goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1. Idaho regained the lead at 4:30 with a power-play goal of their own, from veteran forward Mark Derlago. Derlago stick handled his way around Michael Ouzas and slipped in his 18th goal of the season for the 2-1 Steelheads lead. The Wranglers bounced back on the power play, with Lukacevic's second goal of the game at 8:18 of the third period. Wranglers forward Alex Bourret slapped a pass the Lukacevic deflected in to tie the game at 2-2.
After a scoreless overtime period, Idaho forwards Tyler Spurgeon scored the lone shootout goal to cap the Steelheads victory, 3-2 over Las Vegas.
