Higgins Returns To Gladiators

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that rookie forward Chris Higgins has been reassigned from the Gladiators' American Hockey League affiliate Syracuse Crunch and will be available for tonight's game against Toledo. He was called up on January 28 but did not appear in any additional games with the Crunch. He has appeared in six total games with the Crunch this season. In 10 games with the Gladiators, Higgins has recorded six goals, four of which coming on the power play, and three assists after being originally assigned on January 5.

The 23-year-old Lynnfield, Massachusetts native made his pro debut with the Crunch this season after skating four collegiate seasons at Boston University. In 159 games at BU, Higgins amassed 49 goals and 84 assists for 133 points, including a career high 48 in 2008-09, his senior year.

Prior to Boston University, Higgins skated one season with the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs of the Eastern Junior Hockey League, where he tied for 13th in the league in scoring with 53 points (22-31) in 44 games.

The Gladiators continue their 7th season in the ECHL on Saturday, February 6th vs. Toledo at 7:05 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and Columbus Blue Jackets and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
