ANCHORAGE, Alaska - Eric Boguniecki scored twice and Frank Doyle stopped 25 shots as Alaska squeezed out a 3-2 verdict over Bakersfield before 5,300 Friday night at Sullivan Arena.

The Aces climb back over the.500 mark at 22-21-4 overall and have won seven of their last eight home games, while the Condors (26-15-3) have dropped a season-worst four in a row and have seen their Pacific Division lead shrink to six points over second-place Stockton. Alaska signed Jim Dahl to play for the third consecutive weekend at home after winger Anthony Peluso was re-assigned by St. Louis to Peoria (where he had an assist for the Rivermen in a win at Texas Friday), while Bakersfield made do without its head coach, Marty Raymond, who went home to California to be with his daughter, born hours before the Aces beat the Condors 4-1 Wednesday.

Boguniecki's first goal came 93 seconds into the game and gave Alaska a lead it never relinquished. Nick Mazzolini, who had set up that goal, tipped home his 16th of the year at 14:54 with the Aces on a power play, and the hosts headed to the dressing room with a 2-0 advantage. A shot by Andrew Ianiero that caromed off Ray Eichenlaub's skate put Bakersfield on the board at 8:29 of the second period, but a subsequent turnover by the Condors in their own end was converted by Boguniecki into his second of the night with 4:56 left in the frame, a wrist shot that beat Timo Pielmeier top shelf.

Another tip-in, this one by Bakersfield's Mathieu Aubin, pulled the visitors to within 3-2 with more than 17 minutes still left in regulation, but Alaska limited its opponent to just six third period shots, killed the last of five power play chances for the Condors with four minutes remaining, and held on to even its record against the Pacific Division leaders (3-3-2). The two teams meet again tomorrow in the series finale at 7:15 p.m., with live Peanut Farm Pre-Game Show coverage beginning 15 minutes prior to fae-off.
