
Wolves Drop Bulldogs 4-1

HAMILTON, ONTARIO - The Hamilton Bulldogs fell behind 3-0 to the Chicago Wolves early in the second period on Sunday afternoon, a deficit from which they couldn't recover as the 'Dogs (20-18-0-4) ultimately fell 4-1 to the Wolves (23-15-2-2) at Copps Coliseum.
Wolves forward Dmitrij Jaskin got his team on the score sheet first with a power play goal at 14:25 of the first period, with assists from defencemen Brent Regner and Mark Cundari.
Just over one minute later, forward Tyler Shattock scored to give Chicago a 2-0 lead, with assists from Jaskin and forward Christian Hanson.
Chicago extended their lead to 3-0 just 1:28 into the second period when defenceman Joel Edmundson raced down the wing and roofed a shot over Hamilton goaltender Robert Mayer. Forwards Adam Cracknell and Alexandre Bolduc earned assists on the play.
Less than two minutes later, Bulldogs forward Christian Thomas got Hamilton on the board to make it a 3-1 game with a powerful unassisted wrist shot for his fifth goal of the season.
Wolves defenceman Mark Cundari put his club ahead 4-1 at 12:02 of the second period, with an assist from forward Nathan Longpre.
Chicago out-shot Hamilton 9-5 in the third period as the 'Dogs couldn't muster a comeback.
Mayer made 40 saves on 44 shots in the Bulldogs net in the loss. Matt Climie made 21 saves on 22 shots for the Wolves in the win.
The Bulldogs went 0-for-4 on the power play, while the Wolves went 1-for-6.

Hamilton's next game is scheduled for Friday, January 31st, when the 'Dogs will travel to Abbotsford, British Columbia to take on the Abbotsford Heat (AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames) at 10:00 p.m. at Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre. The Bulldogs will return to Copps Coliseum on Saturday, February 15th when they will host the Texas Stars (AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars) at 7:00 p.m.
