WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder beat the Fort Wayne Komets 5-1 at the INTRUST Bank Arena on Friday night.

Bobby Hughes led the offense with two goals and two assists, while Daniel Tetrault scored the 100th goal of his professional career.

The Thunder broke the game open with a three-goal second period. Leading 2-0, Hughes roofed a loose puck under the crossbar from between the hashmarks at 5:32. Tetrault deliverd a power play goal at 6:56 from the right side of the blue line for the milestone score. A.J. Gale made it 5-0 at 11:35, rifling a shot from the top of the right circle, chasing Komets' goaltender Nick Boucher from the game.

Wichita jumped out to an early 2-0 lead during a highly-entertaining first period. Jesse Bennefield supplied the first goal of the night at 3:12, punching in a rebound to the left of Boucher. Hughes made it 2-0 with a wrist shot that Boucher clipped, but couldn't stop at 14:05. Following Hughes' goal, three fights took place in the span of 13 game seconds. Lance Galbraith, Robin Richards, and Ryan Hand all dropped the gloves in succession against Kaleigh Schrock, Olivier Legault, and Craig Cescon respectively.

Chris Francis scored Fort Wayne's lone goal at 5:34 in the third. Marc-Antoined Gelinas picked up the win, saving 24 of 25. Wichita was 2 for 5 on the power play while Fort Wayne was 0 for 5. It was the fifth time in six games the Thunder scored five or more goals. Wichita has now collected at least one point at home in 10 straight games. Troy Schwab had three assists in the win.
